CALLS TO ARTISTS

December Members’ Show Call for Artwork: Zest For Life!

Artwork Drop off: Thursday November 13 - Wednesday November 19
10a.m. - 4 p.m. (closed Sundays)

Studios of Key West
533 Eaton St., Key West

We love a bit of lime or lemon zest on almost any dish. It’s that tiniest bit of flair that wakes up the rest of the flavors and makes you taste them all more fully. Key West, we like to think, serves a similar purpose, a splash of color at the tip of the country, here to pull you out of the doldrums. No wonder Key Lime Pie is our signature dessert! For the 100+ artists in our Winter Members Exhibition, zest is whatever enlivens the senses: a flash of light as the sun hits a palm tree; a crystalline moment captured in time; or an impromptu flourish as they try something new.

The Chain: Connection in the Florida Keys – Call for Submissions

Deadline: January 18, 2026

We are seeking submissions of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction for an anthology that highlights the connections between community and the natural environment of the Florida Keys. Selected works will be published in the titled collection supported by the Florida Keys Council of the Arts.

Calling All Poets: A Poetry Workshop: I Have Made an Elegy for Myself with Ishion Hutchinson

January 4-8
Key West

What aspects of craft intensify our experience of mortal loss and consolation? How do these techniques—cadence, space, rhythm, figurative language—work together to create the necessary tension that makes absent things present? These will be our guiding questions when discussing the assigned readings and workshopping your own poems. Though the elegy is central to our workshop session, we are not limited to it. In the fall, students will be asked to send in two to three poems to be workshopped in class. The instructor will provide written feedback and lead class discussions on your material (while you experiment with writing elegy; you’re not limited to submitting elegy-based poems). The class will be both workshop-based and generative, and is open to writers at all levels interested in deepening their poetic practice.

Financial Assistance is available to those who would not otherwise be able to attend—click here for guidelines and/or to apply for a Workshop Fellowship Award. (Do not submit a regular application if you are requesting financial aid.)
